Privacy policy
GameSet turns a club's match footage into statistics for its players. This policy explains what personal information we collect to do that, what we do with it, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
GameSet is operated by Jeremy Dominic Hardy, a sole trader based in Australia (ABN 93 582 632 217), referred to here as "we" or "us". We handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
Your account
- Your first and last name and email address.
- Your password, which we store only as a one-way hash. We can't read it.
- If you sign in with Google: your Google account identifier, name, email address, whether Google has confirmed that address, and your profile picture. We don't receive your Google password or access anything else in your Google account.
Your club
- The clubs you belong to, whether you joined as a player, supporter or coach, and whether you're a club admin.
- If you play: your roster entry, meaning the name and position shown on the team sheet, and which player in the footage you've said is you.
Match footage, and what we work out from it
- Videos a club admin uploads. They show everyone who was filmed, whether or not those people have a GameSet account.
- Still frames and clips we cut from those videos, including clips members save or share within the club.
- Statistics and moments we measure for each person on the pitch, such as distance covered, top speed and touches, plus when those moments happen in the video.
- Appearance information used to tell players apart within a match: body appearance and shirt numbers. We don't use facial recognition. A person, not our software, decides which player in the footage is which roster member: either the player themselves or a club admin.
Technical information
- Your IP address, used briefly to limit repeated sign-in and sign-up attempts.
- Server logs of requests and actions, such as sign-ins and uploads, to keep the service running and secure.
- Error reports when something breaks. We configure them to leave out IP addresses, cookies and form contents.
- A human-verification check (Cloudflare Turnstile) when you sign up, reset a password or change your email address.
Payments
If you buy credits, Stripe handles the payment. We receive a record that the payment happened, but never see or store your card details.
How we use it
- To run your account and let you sign in.
- To turn your club's footage into statistics and moments, and show them to members of that club.
- To send emails you need: confirming your address, resetting a password, and account or billing notices. We don't send marketing email. Other notifications appear in the app.
- To protect the service from abuse, and to find and fix problems.
We don't sell personal information or show advertising. Footage uploaded to GameSet is not used to train our models.
Footage of other people, including children
You must be at least 16 to create a GameSet account.
Match footage can show people who never signed up, including players under 16. A club admin who uploads footage confirms that the club is entitled to record the people in it and share it with GameSet for this purpose. For junior players, that includes having any consent needed from a parent or guardian.
Statistics are attached to a place on the club's roster, not to an account. Only members of that club can see the club's footage and statistics.
If you appear in footage and want it or your statistics removed, ask the club's admin, or contact us at the address below and we'll deal with it.
Who else handles it
We use these service providers to run GameSet. Each one handles personal information only to provide its service to us.
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services | Hosting, footage storage and analysis, email delivery | Australia (Sydney). Videos are delivered through a content network that may briefly cache them closer to the viewer, in other countries. |
| Neon | Database | Australia (Sydney, on AWS) |
| "Sign in with Google", if you use it | United States | |
| Cloudflare | Human verification (Turnstile) | United States and globally |
| Sentry | Error reports | United States |
| Stripe | Payments, if you buy credits | United States and Australia |
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Cookies
We use only the cookies GameSet needs to work:
- a session cookie that keeps you signed in;
- short-lived cookies that let you play your club's footage, and that remember a Google sign-in you've started;
- cookies Cloudflare sets during human verification.
We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
- Your account until you delete it. You can do that yourself from your account page.
- Footage and statistics for as long as the club keeps them. A club admin can remove a match's footage.
- Server logs for 30 days.
- Rate-limiting records for minutes to hours.
When you delete your account, we delete your name, email address, password and Google link, and your link to any roster entry. Your club's record of matches you played in stays with the club, because the statistics belong to that match and team. Ask the club's admin or us if you want that entry renamed or removed.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed, stored footage is private to its club, and links to videos expire after a few minutes. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.
Your choices
- You can see and correct most of your details on your account page.
- You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. We'll respond within 30 days.
- You can delete your account at any time.
Contact and complaints
Email gamesethq@gmail.com with any privacy question, request or complaint. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll tell you in the app first.
